D4P取材班ガザ地区での虐殺は今も続き、昨年の10月7日以降、殺害されたジャーナリストは165人にのぼると報じられています。それは10月に突如、始まったことではありません。これまでもガザで、西岸で、報道関係者がターゲットにされてきました。
2022年5月、カタールの衛星テレビ局「アルジャジーラ」特派員だったシーリーン・アブー・アークラさんがヨルダン川西岸地区・ジェニン難民キャンプで射殺されました。イスラエル軍が形ばかりの「謝罪」を述べたのは翌年になってからでした。

そのアルジャジーラのイスラエル国内事務所は、2024年5月、閉鎖に追い込まれました。イスラエルに限らず、「不都合を隠したい側」は常に、メディアへの統制、管理、排除を強めようとします。けれどもメディアの役割は本来、権力から大きく轟いている声をさらに広げる拡声器になりさがることではありません。こうして「まなざしの格差」を生み出し、人々の悲鳴を押し殺そうという巨大な流れに、報道は率先して抗う必要があるでしょう。
7月31日、アルジャジーラでレポートを続けてきたイスマイル・アルグールさん、ラミ・アルリフィさんが爆殺されました。プレスジャケットを着たまま、顔の判別もできないほど粉々にされた彼らの映像がSNSなどでも拡散されています。
ガザに残る知人から、下記のメッセージが届きました。
世界中のジャーナリストたちはどこにいるの？
なぜこんなことを受け入れるの？
あまりに多くのジャーナリストたちがガザで殺された。
”真実を伝えた”というそれだけの理由で。
この氷のように冷たい世界に人々が殺されていくのを、彼らは伝えていたのに。
イスマイルは父も兄も失って、それでも世界が目をそらさないよう、伝え続けていた。
世界は彼が殺されるのを待っていただけ。
私たちはこの声に、行動をもって応答していく必要があります。
記者も、市民も、誰も殺すな、と。
Statement: In response to the killing of journalists and the voices from Gaza strip
The massacre in Gaza strip continues, and it has been reported that 165 journalists have been killed since October 7th of last year. This did not suddenly begin in last October. Journalists have been targeted in Gaza and West bank for some time.
In May 2022, Shirin Abu Akleh, a correspondent for Qatar’s satellite television station “Al Jazeera”, was shot and killed in Jenin, West bank. It wasn’t until the following year that the Israeli army issued a perfunctory apology.
Al Jazeera’s Israel office was forced to close in May 2024. Not only in Israel, but also elsewhere, those who wish to conceal inconvenient truths consistently seek to control, manage, or eliminate the media. However, the primary role of the media is not to amplify the already powerful voices of those in authority. Instead, the media should actively resist the immense tide that creates disparities in attention and seeks to silence the cries of the people.
On July 31st, Ismail al Ghoul and Rami Alrifi, who had been working on a report at Al Jazeera, were killed in a bombing. Their bodies, wearing press jackets and severely mutilated, have been widely shared on social media and other platforms.
We received the following message from an acquaintance in Gaza strip.
Where are the journalists in this world ??!
How they accept this.
Too many journalists killed in Gaza for only one reason, telling the truth!
They showing the world the truth and showing them how they killed by ice world!
They saw their killer and how they killed, but nothing changed.
Ismael lost his father and brother at the beginning of the war to stop him, but he keep working to let this world see the truth instead of their blindness.
But the world wait wait until he killed too.
We must respond to this call with action.
No journalists, no citizens should be killed.
